**LONG POST ALERT BUT JAM PACKED WITH GREAT INFORMATION**
Disc Golf on PEI has been steadily growing over the last few years and it isn't showing any signs of slowing down. If you don't know already, you might be amazed to hear that PEI has the 3rd best course in the world and two courses rated #1 & #2 in all of Canada according to DiscGolfScene! PEI has played host to the biggest Canadian Nationals Tournament is history and has done so each year since 2018 (Atlantic Canadian Nationals in 2020 & 2021 due to Covid) and now hosting once again for 2022 and is set to be by far the biggest event to date with already almost 500 registered players.
The number of rounds tracked on the UDisc App (a must have for every disc golfer), increased by about 300% on PEI in 2021 from 2020 with over 20,000 rounds played. That includes over 8200 plays at Huck It and over 8000 plays at Hillcrest Farms and again these are only the rounds that have been tracked. I would bet there were thousands more that people just played for fun without using the UDisc App.
The number of courses has increased from just 3 a few years ago to now 17 across PEI which is really quite wild! I know not everyone knows that all these exist here so this post is going to help you find a course wherever you are on the Island! And definitely for those that are here to visit our mecca of disc golf on PEI!
Without further ado, let's look a little closer at each course here on PEI:
Name: Hillcrest Farm Disc Golf
Location: 17873 PE-1, Bonshaw, PE
Number of Holes: 18 (currently working on an 18 hole Micro Course)
Year Opened: 2011
Rank in the World: #3
Rank in Canada: #1
Designer: John Houck
Cost to Play: $10/day
Disc Rentals: $5 extra
Membership: $225
If you think woods disc golf is the best disc golf, Hillcrest Farm is the place for you. The fairways are often tight and landing off of them usually puts you in positions where you'll have to navigate a huge number of skinny trunks to find a good position again. That said, there is always a fair way (yes, two words) to get to the basket offered on every hole. The gaps aren't so small that they are arbitrary or impossible, and there's something magical about how the grassy fairways wind through the course's dense woods.
When you look at the hole distances from the long pads, the numbers seem surprisingly small. There are quite a few par 4s just under or over 550 feet/168 meters, and seven of the par 3s don't break 300 feet/91 meters. However, those distances begin to make more sense when you remember the presence of all those trees. With all that said, and while Hillcrest's current tees are certainly fun to play for disc golfers at various levels, Best has come to believe that the course is in need of a longer, tougher layout to challenge today's modern high level players. A Gold layout is in the works and will be complete by September 2022.
Signature Holes: Hole #5 from the Pro Blue Teepad overlooks a valley type area that you'll be throwing into and you're really able to watch your disc fly. Another is Hole #11 which some people have nicknamed "The Hobbit Hole" as the aesthetic reminds people of something out of The Lord of Rings.
Name: Huck It/Chuck It Disc Golf
Location: 1525 Newton Rd, Kinkora, PE
Number of Holes: 18
Year Opened: Huck It (2018) Chuck It (2021)
Rank in Canada: #2
Designer: Charlie McCardle
Cost to Play: $10/day
Disc Rentals: $5 extra
Membership: $300 (includes both Huck It & Chuck It)
Huck it is open all year round. Has 2 entrances into the courses (Huck It and Chuck It) and has a huge parking lot to accompany lots of players and visitors. There are two clubhouses, one is for sign in, rentals and lost and found, while the other is the members lounge with a washroom on site.
This beautiful and challenging course has a River that runs through 8 of the 18 holes. Plenty of bridges to cross and plenty of birdie chances when you cross them. Huck It is a good mixture of forehand and backhand shots off the tees. If you don't have a forehand shot though, your going to learn to use one quickly. There are plenty of local routes that create a risk/reward shot.
Huck It has a hanging basket on Hole #10 and their signature hole is a par 5 that is a dog right, then down hill and over a river to an elevated basket on a stunning platform with ramps going up each side. This a prime example of a risk/reward hole. Lay up and guarantee birdie or par or take a run on your 2nd shot to clear the River and take a look at eagle. All the greens have wood chips and the trails throughout the course are quite enjoyable.
Coming soon to Huck It is "Throw Your Own Way" Pro Shop!! This will include snacks, discs, apparel on site!!!!
The Canadian Nationals has taken place at Huck It a few times with Pro stars like Nate Sexton, Paul McBeth, James Conrad, Kristen Tattar, Paige Pierce and more have played.
Owner Charlie McCardle is always willing to help out new players and explain the game to them. He has a great rapport with the members and is always happy to see players having fun on the course.
On the same property you will find Chuck it! Chuck it is an 18 hole par 3 course. This a great beginner course and it's a great little course for a good warm up round. This course has 5 holes that the river is in place. Chuck it only opened late last summer (2021) and it's getting better every month!
Name: Rose Valley Disc Golf
Location: 4218 PE-225, Breadalbane, PE
Number of Holes: 18
Year Opened: 2019
Designer: Ben Smith (FlickLine Disc Golf)
Website: www.flickline.ca
Cost to Play: $10/day
Disc Rentals: N/A
Membership: $150 (may change for 2022 season)
Overall Rose Valley is a diverse mix of open holes, wooded tunnels, and a well balanced blend of hyzer and anhyzer tee shots. All the tee pads are now hard pack with turf on top.
Distance can be very rewarding here especially on some of the finishing holes but placement drives will give you birdie looks all day long. There is a great mix of hardwood stands throughout this course and a few vistas that encourage players to take a second and soak in the beautiful scenery that interior PEI has to offer.
More than any course on the island wind can be a major factor so before arriving at the course you might want to have at least one extra over-stable disc in the bag.
There are a ton of fun shots here, including some downhill blasts that make those hilly walks worth your time. It's also a nice bonus to have a brewery onsite, and you may want to plan at least one visit to coincide with BarNone's open hours.
Signature Hole: Hole #8 is without a doubt designed Ben Smith's favourite hole on the course. It has options off the tee where you can throw the long anhyzer or the straight shot and with the elevated tee box you get a great view of the island. If you can hit that perfect line with your throw, it's incredibly pleasurable to watch!
Name: Mill River Disc Golf

This 9 Hole Par 29 course is located right in the middle of the Mill River Resort. You can see baskets 1 and 9 as you make your way through the twisty entrance to Mill River Resort.
This course is open all year round. Most holes have wide open spaces to allow you to grip and rip the disc. Plenty of trees in strategic places that can make some shots very tricky. This is a very backhand friendly course. Playing here in the fall is very colorful with all the leaves on the trees and spread along the course.
After a couple loops of the 9 holes you can head into Callaghans inside the Resort for a bite to eat and some beverages.

As the name suggests you will find PEI’s newest Championship Disc Golf Course right on the Kings/Queens County line in Elliotvale. At a 20 minute drive from Stratford and 30 minutes from Souris The King’s Pine will put Eastern PEI’s on the Disc Golf map.
Owners Kim and Carson Gill have always wanted to make better use of the mature woodland that adjoined their Century Farm and when Pandemic inspired cabin fever led them to the sport of Disc Golf an Idea took hold.
By word of mouth Carson was introduced to Maritime native course designer Ben Smith who pulled in Acadian Forest rehabilitation specialist Dan Dupont. With a specific goal of forestry health Ben and Dan have carved out 18 beautiful and challenging holes.
Presided over by its namesake majestic White pine on The 8 th Tee, The Kings’ Pine winds its way through 55 Acres of mature mixed woodland with some unique topography. While there are some open holes sprinkled in and a surprising amount of wind in play, The Kings’ Pine is truly a ‘Woods Golf’ course.
The forward ‘Red’ tees make sure the course is both Accessible and Fun for newer players. The Mid ‘Blue’ tees add not only distance but a need for more shot shaping and accuracy. In the near future ‘Gold’ tees will be added for advanced players and Tournament.
As a ‘Disc Golf Park’ branded course top level tees, signage and baskets are featured. The Kings’ Pine will be open to the public on a self serve basis by Late Spring 2022 at a reduced play rate of $5/round - $8/day for it’s inaugural season.
Plans are in place to add a Driving Range, Practice Green, and Disc Rentals in due course. It is our hope to have a full service Clubhouse in the near future.

They had been talking about new ways to engage with the community and Patrick mentioned disc golf! The pitch was made to the board and things quickly fell in to place. Designer: Ben Smith (FlickLine Disc Golf)
Website: www.flickline.ca

This is a school course that was built primarily to serve the students of Charlottetown Rural High School. The course came into being after a lot of hard work and vision from yet another devoted school teacher.
The baskets are placed in such a way that there are a wide range of shots available to the experienced player, but the course does not interfere with too many of the other school activities. Like all school courses, this is only available to the public during non-school hours, weekends, and holidays.
Although PEI is known for its world-class private courses, the baskets at "The Rural" are a welcome addition for local players. Lots of glow league and beginner-friendly events happen here throughout the season.

The Town Hall Greens in Stratford is an awesome beginner course that you can play a round of in 45 minutes or less. Just because it's great for beginners it doesn't mean that others can't come out to enjoy rip some discs to improve your distance and to have a fun time challenging those ace runs!
Stratford is in the middle of making some course upgrades re: bridges, fixing up the baskets, securing them in the ground better and adding some more signage! The course in it's first year has logged almost 800 rounds on UDisc and likely even closer to 1000 to include those that weren't tracked.
For Halloween we hosted a Halloween Glow Tournament and it was a huge success and a blast for everyone involved! Town of Stratford will be having an Official Opening once course upgrades are finished later this Spring so be sure to keep an eye out for that!

The holes feature a variety of throws for both left and right handed players both in and out of the woods. Note the six hole course starts at tee markers for hole 4. Holes 4-8 are all par 3’s from both sets of tees with hole nine being par 4 from the blues tees and par 5 from the white. Several holes offer full power drives with a few ace runs thrown in. This 6 basket, 9 teepad course was put on school property for a little something to add to the community and to the school. I would suggest downloading the UDisc app to help navigate your way through the course but it is definitely a fun little stop and a great place to learn for those that are just looking to start. There are definitely some longer shots for you to rip on and also a couple of more technical shots closer and among trees to make for a little excitement!

It's a great spot to do some field work and you can play the baskets in different ways so that it's not always the same. With a baseball backstop as an obstable it makes for some fun throws and a great spot for beginners and the school kids to learn how to play this awesome sport!

Number of Holes: 9
Year Opened: 2022
Designer: Jeff Lockert & Jamie Crashdown
Cost to Play: Free
*Contact Jeff or Jamie to show you the ropes*
The Mulberry 9 was designed to help beginner/intermediate players develop their precision and finesse. While this course can probably be played with just a putter it's tight tunnels and many mandos offer a full spectrum of challenges in an economical amount of space. The course has a real DIY charm with its two handmade baskets played from nine positions. At this stage in the development it is recommended to consult or play a round with the course designers before heading out solo.
